Samuel Eliu Espinoza Parrales

Eliu Espinoza was born in Chulucanas, Peru, and grew up surrounded by the arts, as his father was one of the eminent writers of the region and his family was very musical as well. He was interested in acting and movies as a youth. He studied information technology at the University of Piura and later opened an institute called Global Vision where he taught computing. After university, he was employed as a webmaster at the Regional Government of Piura, Peru. He began to use his IT skills to enter into the world of film, teaching himself video editing and 3D animation. 

In 2007, he began his first full length film with his brother Dickson who was a pastor at an evangelical church. After only two days of filming, “The Power of Prayer” was nothing spectacular technically but was well received by the church members. He followed this effort with another Christian production “Innocent Tears” and a short thriller called “Them”.

In 2009, he decided to attempt a larger scale production and produced “Uncertain Destination” which was self financed and required a larger cast and crew. In 2010, “Uncertain Destination” premiered at the Alianza Francesa in Piura, Peru. In 2011, Eliu made three documentaries displaying the culture and tourism of northern Peru before moving to the US to live with his wife and family.

In December 2011, he created his first English production “The Real Power” which reflected his strong anti-war sentiment. On a trip back to Peru in May 2012, he created a short film called “The City” showing the realities of human trafficking. Shortly thereafter, he and his family relocated to the United Kingdom.

Eliu has worked hard to get to the point where he is at now – feeling confident in his technical skills in film. He continues to pursue directing as his primary interest in film, he maintains expertise across the board. He is passionate about films that cause one to reflect, that are existential in nature, and that create a social good.
